The Carlton Football Club is pleased to confirm that David Ellard has signed a new one-year contract, to keep him with the Blues until at least the end of 2015.

Ellard was recruited to Carlton with a third round pick (No. 34 overall) in the 2008 rookie draft. In 2009, he was named Carlton’s Best Clubman and in 2010 Ellard was elevated to the Blues’ senior list.

This year his season was cut short by an ankle injury but not before the 25-year-old notched up his 50th AFL game.

“David has had an unfortunate run of luck with injuries, but we’re confident that he is over the latest setback and will be able to get a solid pre-season under his belt,” McKay said.

“He’s the kind of player who always gives it everything on the field and he is equally admired off the field, so we’re rapt to have him playing with us for another year.”
