Taking on ladder-leader North Melbourne was always going to be a huge challenge for Carlton, but the lessons it learnt against the Roos will help them prepare for this weekend’s match against Geelong.

Speaking to RSN on Tuesday morning, Carlton captain Marc Murphy says he and the team have reviewed the vision from the disappointing loss, identifying areas of improvement.

“We looked at the tapes yesterday and there were a few areas we got wrong…we learnt a few lessons about our body positioning (in the centre square), and reading the ball a little bit better.”

The midfielder, who says going down by 10 goals is not the footy club Carlton “want to be”, emphasised the need to regroup heading into this week’s Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round clash with Geelong.

With the Cats currently sitting second on the ladder with seven wins and two losses, there’s no doubt they will pose another big test for the Blues – who continue to develop, grow and learn as a team.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge for us against a really good side…it’s another good challenge for us to get back to that really pressing football and high-pressure football that we like to play,” Murphy said.

“We’re looking forward to another chance against a really good side this week.”

Carlton takes on Geelong this Sunday at Etihad Stadium, with the match kicking off at 1:10pm.
