Carlton midfielder Dale Thomas has been recognised for his performance against arch-rival Essendon on Sunday afternoon.

‘Daisy’ has not only received nine coaches’ votes for his game against the old enemy at the ‘G, but he has also been named in the AFL’s Team of the Week.

Positioned in the centre alongside Giant Lachie Whitfield and Cat Patrick Dangerfield, it’s the second week in a row Carlton has featured in the team, after Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson were named in the line-up after Round 5.

After scoring the first goal of the game on Sunday, Daisy went on to gather 31 disposals, including 14 contested possessions and seven tackles.

In arguably his best game in the Navy Blue, the midfielder was everywhere, whether he was pressuring the opposition or setting up goals for his teammates.

With the prospect of knocking off another old enemy this weekend – Dale’s former team, Collingwood – all Bluebaggers will hoping the midfielder can replicate Sunday’s performance and help get Carlton across the line.
