Carlton’s reigning John Nicholls Medallist Patrick Cripps has signed a contract extension with the Blues, locking him in until at least the end of the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old had a breakout year in 2015, earning the No. 1 ranking at Carlton for contested possessions, clearances and handballs per game, as well as averaging an impressive 23.5 disposals.

His standout season was recognised by the football community, finishing a runner-up in the AFL’s NAB Rising Star Award and being named in the AFLPA’s 22under22 Team.

Cripps was taken with Carlton’s first pick (13) in the 2013 national draft and has played 23 games since making his debut against Melbourne in 2014.

“We’re really pleased Patrick has committed to the Blues and wants to be here for the journey ahead – it shows he has faith in the Club’s direction,” Silvagni said.

“Not only is Patrick a talented footballer, but he’s also a terrific person who drives high standards around the Club.
