The Blues will be hoping to notch up their third win in a row when they take on the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Both teams have won their last two matches, with the Bulldogs jumping into the top eight after winning a close match against the Saints last weekend.

The last encounter between these two teams, which was also played at Etihad Stadium, saw the Blues take home the four points with a 28-point victory over the Bulldogs.

In that match Carlton swingman Lachie Henderson booted five goals, while captain Marc Murphy and vice-captain Bryce Gibbs had 28 and 29 disposals respectively.

The Blues will be without Gibbs on Saturday, as he serves the final week of his two-match suspension for a tackle on Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray.

Due to injury Carlton will also be without Andrew Carrazzo (toe), Troy Menzel (knee) and Sam Docherty (hamstring), but the Blues regain experienced backman Michael Jamison who has been out since Round 4 with a calf injury.

After standout performances with the Northern Blues in the VFL, the two Blaines – Johnson and Boekhorst – also make their way into Carlton’s line-up. Johnson kicked six goals against Frankston last week, while Boekhorst kicked two goals and amassed 29 disposals in the 157-point victory at Etihad Stadium.

During the week, Carlton youngster Nick Graham said the Bulldogs' tackling pressure has been a real “highlight” this year and he’s looking forward to going head-to-head with them.

“We’re pretty similar sides in the way we play, so it will be a big challenge on Saturday night and hopefully we can get the four points and win three in a row,” Graham said.

Bulldogs veteran Matthew Boyd plays his 250th match this weekend, while the Bulldogs’ other Boyd, Tom, will miss with a knee injury.

Young Caleb Daniel has been brought into the Doggies’ side, making him the fifth debutant for the Western Bulldogs this season.

Doggies’ assistant coach Steven King says Daniel has worked hard to earn himself a spot in the senior side.

“With every player we’ve played this year, every debutant, they’ve earned their spot and Caleb is no different,” King said.

“He’s showed really great form at VFL level, he’s creative and got great agility, speed and endurance.”

Carlton's clash with the Western Bulldogs kicks off at 7.20pm Saturday night at Etihad Stadium. For those getting there early, the Bulldogs will screen the animated movie HOME at 5.20pm on the big screens as part of their pre-match entertainment.
