There were some very special guests watching on at Etihad Stadium on Sunday as Carlton beat the Gold Coast Suns by 34 points.

The Club was pleased to be able to host one of Carlton's biggest and bravest supporters: eight-year-old Carter Savage and his family.

Carter suffers from Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, which is a rare condition that results in bone marrow failure and can eventually lead to the most aggressive form of childhood leukaemia.

He has been recovering in the Royal Children's Hospital after undergoing a bone marrow transplant late last year.

Carter, along with mum Karen, dad Scott and sister Skye, made a rare family trip out of hospital to go and watch the game.

Carlton's Kristian Jaksch paid the family a surprise visit and took them down to the rooms after the win where Carter joined players in singing the Blues' song.
