There's been a homecoming at Visy Park this week with 312-game Carlton veteran Stephen Silvagni being appointed the new General Manager of List Management and Strategy.

Speaking to SEN the dual premiership player said it’s good to be back.

“It’s nice to be home – haven’t worn the navy blue for a while but it was good to go back to Princes Park,” Silvagni said.

“Saw a lot of old faces, but some new ones as well.”

When asked about the shape of Carlton’s list Silvagni said there are no quick fixes, but he believes the building blocks are in place.

“I think the foundations are starting to be put in place in terms of the youth – guys like Menzel and Cripps and Buckley ,” he said.

“They’ve certainly got some quality top end stuff .. I think Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy and Gibbs – if they’re fit and going they’re going to be more than competitive.

“But fundamentally it’s going to take some time to become one of those really good teams that are going to consistently play finals footy and sustain success.”
