In a league first, Carlton today has launched an interactive website calling all members to vote on a historic guernsey change.

Coinciding with 2015 membership, www.selectourguernsey.com.au delivers a celebrated look at the Carlton Guernsey over its 150 years existence, allowing Carlton members to vote on their desired guernsey.

Due to overwhelming response from supporters to this season’s commemorative heritage strip, the Club is putting the decision in the hands of its members to decide what CFC crest they want to adorn the front of the old dark navy blue from next season.

Replicating the uniform worn by Carlton players during its most successful period, 1927-1997, the heritage guernsey featured the CFC Crest that was donned by legends such as Vallence, Hands, Nicholls, Doull, Kernahan and Silvagni.

It was worn three times this past season: Round 7 v Collingwood, Round 13 v Hawthorn and Round 23 v Essendon.

In an open letter to member’s last week, new CEO Steven Trigg said he has received plenty of feedback from members about their desire to return to the heritage CFC on a more permanent basis.

“Upon starting in the role, I went to our members and asked them what was one thing they would like me to implement. The guernsey itself created a lot of discussion, so we are putting it back in their hands.

“While we are focused on the future of our football club, it is important we respect our past and ultimately we want our members to own this decision. So from today we are giving them that opportunity to shape the future.

“We have the most iconic guernsey in Australian sport – the old dark navy blue with the white insignia – this is a very important vote in the history of our football club.”

Member voting will run through until November 21, with an announcement to be made in early December.
