It’s less than a week until the AFL’s trade window opens for 2014 and already Carlton is being tipped to be heavily involved.

The Blues have already been informed by unrestricted free agent Jarrad Waite that he plans to seek opportunities elsewhere, while Carlton has made public its intention to seek trades for Jeff Garlett and Mitch Robinson.

Here’s a wrap up of other whispers sparking speculation on possible movements next week:

Out of contract Western Bulldogs forward Liam Jones has requested a trade to Carlton.

Jones’ manager Shane Casley has told SEN that Carlton would be a good fit for his charge, adding:

"It's fair to say that Liam's been a bit frustrated this year with the lack of opportunities in the last couple of months.

“At the end of the day, like most guys, he just wants to play senior AFL football."

The 23-year-old, who is 198cm tall, has played 10 games for the Western Bulldogs this season and booted five goals for Footscray in the VFL grand final.

GWS key position player Kristian Jaksch has told the Giants he wants to return to Victoria and has been linked to both Carlton and St Kilda. The 19-year-old, who stands at 196 cm tall, was taken by the Giants with pick No. 12 in the 2012 National Draft. He has played seven AFL games.

According to The Age, the Brisbane Lions have expressed interest in Blues’ hard nut Mitch Robinson. The Lions are also strongly being linked to Collingwood’s Dayne Beams who wants to return home to Brisbane.

Carlton has ruled out chasing Sydney’s Tom Mitchell, who has been linked to the Blues. However GM – Football Operations Andrew McKay says he’ll be happy to talk to Mitchell if the 21-year-old decides he definitely wants to return to Melbourne.
