IN WHAT was a disappointing result for the Blues at Marvel Stadium, there was a shining light.

Not only did Sam Walsh play his first game for the 2024 season, but he also notched up 100 games in the AFL – all in Navy Blue.

Celebrating in style, Walsh put on a scintillating performance, earning himself nine AFLCA votes in Round 5.

Walsh delivered game-high numbers in disposals (34), contested possessions (15), tackles (13), metres gained (611), inside 50s (11) and clearances (eight).

Along with nine score involvements and four intercept possessions, Walsh was clearly a very handy inclusion for the Blues on the weekend.

Charlie Curnow also earned one vote for his performance, where the forward fought tooth and nail to get to the ball.

Slotting four goals, Curnow also delivered a game-high 11 score involvements and six contested possessions.
